About the Job:
An opportunity has arisen for a Sommelier to join our team in Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:
Train colleagues on wine knowledge.
Control and monitor wine orders, stock and par level.
Pick up wines from stores after proper checking of the order and quantity.
Maintain wine chillier at correct temperature and maintain temperature records.
Ensure all tables are attended during the service; refilling and fresh orders are taken throughout.
Build rapport with Junior Sommeliers and the team to enhance teamwork and smooth operation.
Report feedback and suggestions to the Beverage Manager and Outlet Managers and send updates of the availabilities and non-availabilities.
Ensure proper labelling is done for all opened bottles, transfer or report as spoilage according to set standards.
Support the service team with their beverage service if needed.
Support with additional tasks as assigned by the Beverage Manager.
About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
Prior experience in a similar role in a luxury hotel or a standalone restaurant, demonstrating a strong understanding of luxury hospitality standards, preferably within a pre-opening setting.
Proficiency in English is required, ideally complemented by proficiency with a second language (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, German or Greek).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Extensive wine and beverage knowledge and the strategic ability to sell by using upselling techniques.
WSET level 3 or equivalent.
