Clinical Laboratory Accountant

The Company
A new clinical pathology laboratory in Dubai with plans to improve upon the current patient care framework across the UAE. Both founders are driven towards innovating existing healthcare standards using the latest technology and research in the space.
The Role
As part of the laboratory’s accounting and finance team you will work closely with senior management to provide insight into the day-to-day financials of the laboratory. You will serve as a key resource for the organisation and provide daily financial oversight to ensure the financial records are complete and comply with generally accepted accounting principles, policies, and regulations to facilitate solid decision support. You will also play a crucial role in the monthly and annual closing process and be a key point of contact for annual external auditors.
Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information.
Document financial transactions by entering account information.
Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options.
Summarise current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
Secure financial information by completing data base backups.
Implement a robust audit methodology for pertinent financial documents.
Manage payroll information and ensure that employees are remunerated correctly and in a timely manner.
Manage and follow-up payments to vendors and cash inflows from external partners.
Collaborate with the insurance coordinator to manage the medical billing cycle.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
Accounting experience in the UAE medical sector, preferably within clinical laboratories.
Ability to exercise independent judgement with autonomy.
Strong understanding of relevant accounting principles, policies and regulations.
Demonstrable experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks for small businesses.
