Tax Expert – Audit Required in Dubai
Job Summary:
Provide advice to the Tax Compliance and Enforcement Director on enforcement, compliance, risk management, and audit methodologies, manuals, and strategies, in addition to assisting in tax technical interpretation of tax laws, the operational impact on taxpayers; and, legislative developments. Put in place field training protocol and train auditors on field audit, inspections, audit techniques, and tax fraud detection. In addition to preparing and updating the risk parameters and annual audit plan.
Roles and responsibilities:
Provide input and advice on the development of audit manuals for each sector to help and standardize the audit procedures conducted by all auditors.
Prepare processes and strategies related to department functions.
Develop and update risk parameters in relation to compliance and fraud areas to be used develop the annual audit plan to enhance the audit case selection strategies, and report on an ongoing basis.
Provide tax technical expertise and advice across the department functions.
Build and update audit, and inspection processes based on best practices.
Provide training to department staff on VAT and Excise tax audit and inspection techniques.
Develop a standardized office and field training protocol, and train field auditors and inspectors.
Assist with initial inspections/audits in order to transfer skills on-the-job.
Keep the team up to date with VAT and excise Tax legislations and updates.
Support the Tax Compliance and Enforcement Director and heads of sections in terms of all tax compliance and enforcement related issues.
Perform the necessary studies on industry averages for the purpose of determining potential under-declaration of VAT and excise tax.
Analyze tax policy and audit trends and the impact on taxpayer experience, and in line with audit international best practices, draw conclusions as to the relevance for tax audit policies and department processes.
