Tax Assistant Manager Required in Dubai

Job Purpose:

The Candidate’s main objective shall be to support the Group Corporate Tax Team in meeting the tax operational needs in the UAE, Oman and Bahrain.

The successful candidate shall work closely with the corporate team, Businesses teams and service providers. The successful candidate shall take full ownership of all the tax compliance and accounting, documentation. Further, he should support the teams in advisory and compliance matters for the Majid Al-Futtaim Group in the UAE, Oman and Bahrain.

Job Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Support the Group tax team to undertake all the below:
Undertake all the applicable periodical compliances which include VAT, ESR, CbCR, upcoming Corporate tax etc.
Responsible to prepare all the back-up data i.e. schedules, working papers in relations to all taxes compliances as per the Group tax guidelines .
Make all the countries Tax audit ready.
Review of documentation which includes contracts, invoices etc. to determine the correct tax treatments.
Work closely with the consultants for review, finalization and filing of the tax compliance filings
Coordinate with internal teams to undertake the required process changes as suggested by the consultants in order to rectify the subsequent tax compliance
Coordinate with the other internal teams to perform tasks from reporting to payment submission.
Provide updates on any tax developments in the region and highlight their impact on the Company.
Assist the corporate team to undertake ad-hoc tax projects such as sale, merger etc. by preparing and providing adequate information.
Liaise with the tax authorities for all the ongoing litigations and other tax compliance.
Interact with business and finance teams to understand the tax needs and provide any tax support.
Managing the tax data on eDMS by ensuring relevant tax data is updated and retained in line with the Group Retention Policy.
Implement any changes in the IT/ ERP systems to align to the various tax requirements.
Develop internal controls from an AR, AP, accounting standpoint to ensure that there is proper tax compliances.
Implement any tax automation projects.

Measure of Success – Illustrative KPIs:

Timely and accurate tax submissions and compliance.
Assistance in tax matters to business and finance teams.
Ensure that the company is tax audit ready.
Support other tax regions (if required).
Timely follow up on tax regulations update and ensure implementation as per published law guidelines.
Maintain proper archiving for all tax submissions working files.
Align on any accounting treatment from tax compliance point of view, with tax consultant as needed.

Personal Characteristics and Required Background:

Good practical Tax knowledge

Minimum experience

Minimum 3-4 years’ of similar experience, having worked in a Tax environment in a large organization, managing tax operational matters.
Having work in a Big 4 Audit firm is recommended or any tax consulting role
Having knowledge of real estate sector is recommended

Minimum education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting is a must.
Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/ ACCA/ CPA/ ICAEW).
