Principle Functions:
This position working closely with the MGR / SM/Accounting plays a pivotal role in in the Accounting of Etisalat.
The Senior Accountant – Accounting is primarily responsible for the preparation of the management financial accounts, review & analyses ensure compliance with IFRS provisions, other reporting pronouncements and the results of operations & financial position of the Company.
This position will require knowledge of financial / management accounting, analytical skills, communication skills and should be a good team player.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation of the internal monthly, quarterly and annual accounting packages and management financial analysis.
Maintain a reporting calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for the following processes: financial close, submission of reporting deliverables/packages
Participate in the review of business development contracts, maintenance contracts and special projects and provide/come-up with proposed accounting guidance.
Review the results of operations and financial position – to ensure completeness of the accruals; identify any unusual or significant transaction recorded in the books.
Analyze and review of schedules and reconciliation i.e. bank reconciliation, FA/PEC vs. GL and for other accounts.
Participate in special projects as they arise which may include recommendations of cost or control improvement measures, conducting studies or analysis of business activities or financial data and interpreting such data.
Work with MGR / SM/Accounting on communications with external auditors and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.
Liaise with the internal and external auditor on the timelines, needed schedules /information and logistics.
Follows up with relevant sections/departments for accurate recording/accruing of revenues, discounts and expenses with strict adherence to reporting/financial close deadlines and participates in joint monthly close with the relevant departments as required;
Performs accounting work in compliance with Corporation’s Accounting Policies, Procedures and Standards
Monitors and highlights non-routine transactions for appropriate action;
Prepares analysis of revenues and expenses for presentation at the monthly closing meeting
Prepares the monthly Financial Statements Package
Maintains a proper filing system and ensures all official documents are maintained in accordance with Corporation’s requirements
Provide timely accounting analysis/ ad-hoc financial information in response to internal requirements and/or inquiries on financial results
Perform other duties as required by the MGR / SM/Accounting and D/Accounting.
Set up processes and end to end systems to ensure accounting completeness, internal controls
Thorough knowledge of VAT & Corporate tax principles
Thorough knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and application
Strong Business acumen
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting
Knowledge of ORACLE ERP. Good understanding of applicable IFRS.
3-5 years in-depth accounting/finance experience in Telecoms
