The Restaurant General Manager is an integral contributor to the overall success of the entire restaurant venue. The Restaurant Manager will direct, coordinate, and plan the organization of all food and beverage while working beside the Chef to ensure consistency, budget control, quality of service and product. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team and direct the vision of the highest quality operation and ultimately be responsible for managing the Front of House team and overall daily restaurant operation, in the pursuit and delivery of consistent, excellent Guest experiences, while effectively enforcing the company’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Avoid legal challenges by following all company and government legislations.
Regularly conduct P&L reviews to analyze financial metrics.
Achieve operational objectives of all outlets by preparing and completing action plans, implementing productivity, quality and standards of service.
Be accountable for the business performance of the restaurant.
Generate growth and restaurant sales through marketing initiatives.
Analyze and plan restaurant sales levels and profitability.
Organize marketing activities, such as promotional events and discount schemes in conjunction with the Marketing team.
Create and execute plans for department sales, profit, and employee development.
Set the budget and ensure that it is continually reviewed and achieved.
Liaise with the BOH Management Team to control costs by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation, minimizing waste.
Review employee levels and overall, Back of House schedules to ensure labour forecasts are met.
Prepare reports at end of shift/week, including employee records, food control, and sales.
Role Specifications
Experience and Education
In depth knowledge / expertise of the hospitality / food & beverage service industry
3 years’ experience in the field as a General Manager, in a similar environment
Sommelier accreditation or wine education is also a strong asset
Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
