An exciting opportunity exists for a Finance Manager to join the Syrah team based in Dubai. The role is accountable for developing, implementing and managing strong finance, accounting and reporting frameworks across Syrah’s United Arab Emirates (UAE) entities.
Role responsibilities include:
Day-to-day management of a small finance team, including the development & mentoring of personnel
Manage the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, forecasts, cost analysis reports and profit & loss statements
Ensure timely and accurate financial information is provided to department managers in order for them to make effective & informed decisions
Oversight of month end, half year and year end financial close activities, meeting all established group reporting timetables and processes
Preparation of monthly internal management reporting, ensuring it is accurate and completed in alignment with the Group reporting timetable
Manage all aspects of finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and accounting
Review, assess and recommend changes to processes, procedures and systems to identify efficiency opportunities and/or improve the quality of internal controls
Manage all aspects of financial compliance of Syrah’s UAE subsidiaries
Manage quarterly Transfer Pricing process in a timely and accurate manner, and regular compliance requirements
Continually improve and evolve reporting processes and implement effective cost control solutions / practices to optimise efficiencies
Prepare and present Finance update and Budgets at quarterly Board meetings
Assist Group half year and annual report preparation and audit
Develop & maintain strong business relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banking partners and regulatory authorities
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years’ experience in a senior financial role, preferably within a commodities marketing group or global logistics industry
Finance and/or Accounting tertiary qualifications, including a CA or CPA post-graduate qualification
Prior experience in a Big 4 firm environment preferred
Well-developed knowledge of international financial, accounting and tax systems, including the ability to develop, implement and monitor internal controls.
Previous experience with ERP systems (e.g. Pronto) and an expert Microsoft Excel user
The ability to think strategically and a demonstrated ability to establish short / long term plans in line with business objectives
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Effective leadership skills and the ability to develop high-performing teams
Thorough understanding of international accounting & finance practices in a global business context
