Currently, decentralized applications are limited by rising gas fees and long transaction queues as a result of blockchains that can't scale. To accelerate the adoption of dApps Shardeum is building the most advanced iteration of a state sharded smart contract platform. Dynamic state sharding enables Shardeum to increase TPS with each node added to the network. We are obsessed with making the vision for a decentralized future a reality and seek individuals who share the same passion. The Shardeum Foundation is a small but highly experienced team distributed globally who have worked with NASA, Yahoo, Raytheon, Zynga, Microsoft, Ethereum Foundation, PayPal, etc.
We are looking for a globally minded, strategic, and operationally minded Accountant to join our team at Shardeum to help us scale our back office operations and systems.
Responsibilities:
Maintain all accounting files, creating accounts for various income and expense heads via departments and groups.
Ensure that all the companies/entity accounts are kept separate and clear from each other.
Help architect and build operating budget
Create weekly and monthly statements and compare them with planned budgets and advise the Leadership Team on any variances
Prepare a monthly Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statement
Reconcile the company's bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
Create expense accounts based on individuals and groups and ensure that the required invoices and approvals are obtained prior to the expenses
Completing analysis of the employee expenditures, processing payments and ensuring backup details are provided and correct
Maintaining expense details and ensuring the same is in line with approved expenses.
Implement and manage financial and accounting software(s) used by the Foundation
Coordinate with a global team across different time zones
Operationalize time-keeping record system for hourly employees so that the payroll can be administered effectively
Qualifications:
CFA / CPA / MCom / MBA or Degrees in Finance & Accounting (or equivalents) with 3 to 8 years of work experience
Based in Dubai on their own visa status and be willing to work a mix of local (GST) and US hours (CST)
We are building the infrastructure for Web 3.0. It's going to be a rollercoaster ride but promises to be fun!

Omar Syed: Omar is a blockchain architect with over 30 years of experience in helping organizations such as NASA, Yahoo, Zynga build fault-tolerant, distributed systems. Omar holds a B.S. and M.S. from Case Western Reserve University with specialization in Artificial Intelligence.
