Position Summary
Newton College is seeking an experienced and passionate IB Diploma Programme (DP) Psychology Teacher to join our Upper School faculty. The successful candidate will lead the planning, delivery, and continuous development of the IB DP Psychology curriculum while contributing to the success of our IB programmes.
Depending on the candidate's qualifications and the school's needs, the role may also include teaching additional subjects within the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Middle Years Programme (MYP).
The ideal candidate is an innovative educator who embraces inquiry-based learning, fosters critical thinking, and is committed to helping students reach their full academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons for the IB Diploma Programme Psychology course.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the DP Psychology curriculum.
Teach additional IB DP or MYP courses as required.
Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment that supports student achievement and wellbeing.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
Promote inquiry-based, concept-driven learning in alignment with IB philosophy.
Supervise student research projects, including the MYP Personal Project and/or the DP Extended Essay.
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and wellbeing.
Participate in professional development, collaborative planning, school meetings, and faculty responsibilities.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.
Valid teaching qualification or certification.
IB Diploma Programme (DP) training is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
Previous experience teaching IB Diploma Programme (DP) Psychology is required.
Experience teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is considered an advantage.
Teaching Excellence
Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
Ability to design engaging, objective-driven, inquiry-based lessons.
Commitment to constructivist and concept-based teaching methodologies aligned with IB philosophy.
Ability to assess student learning effectively and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
Communication
Fluent English (CAE level or native/near-native proficiency).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and conflict-resolution abilities.
Technology
Proficient in educational technology and digital learning platforms.
Comfortable using learning management systems, Web 2.0 tools, and classroom technology.
Willingness to explore and integrate emerging educational technologies into teaching and learning.
