The Role
The Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, including administering chemotherapy and other medications, and educating patients about their diagnosis.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Administer prescribed chemotherapeutic agents in accordance with the unit’s policies, procedures and protocols.
Provide patient education on prescribed treatment regimen and side effects of therapy to patients, families and significant others as required.
Obtain pre-chemotherapy blood work (CBC) as necessary to determine eligibility for treatment.
Communicate changes in patient status to the physician or charge nurse promptly.
Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration) during chemotherapy administration.
Maintain equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
Assist with the coordination of patient discharge following chemotherapy administration.
Ideal Profile
Skills Required
You have at least 4 year experience including solid experience in a similar role within Hospital or clinic.
You are a self-starter and demonstrate a high level of resilience.
You are adaptable and thrive in changing environments.
You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard.
