Role Specific Skills
To assess needs of the patients, conduct risk assessments, anddevelop a comprehensive care plan.
To build therapeutic relationships with patients to encourage trust, while interviewing and assessing their needs and concerns about health issues.
To identify patients who are at risk of harming themselves or others and to maintain patient's safety and provide evidence based care.
To ensures the correct storage, preparation and administration of psychotropic medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment.
To understand & manage patients with the specific symptoms of mental illness, de-escalating stressful situations and helping patients overcome challenges.
To observe and evaluate patient behaviors which needs timely interventions.
To assist patients to develop social skills.
To deliver psychoeducation to patients, families and communities.
To prepares and participate in-group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, both individually and with other health professionals.
To prepares and maintain patient records by ensuring complete documentation.
To collaborate with the patient/ client, their family and the inter- disciplinary team to facilitate the development and review of an appropriate care plan/ discharge plan to ensure continuity of care.
To ensure patient/staff and environmental safety by periodic check of environment/ patient belongings as per hospital policy.
To respect and maintains the confidentiality and dignity of the patient / client in relation to all hospital activities.
To ensure a process of continuous in-service education, in their clinical area & maintain unit specific competency in managing aggression, suicidal assessment and management, pre & post ECT management and assessing the mental status of the patient.
To plan and develop educational programs that reflect the identified learning needs of staff in their units through Group sessions, bedside teaching and one to one discussions.
To act as a mentor, preceptor or clinical assessor for staff in the clinical environment.
To participates in orientation, training, development and networking opportunities in relation to mental health nursing.
To ensure eligible customers are referred to community mental health services avail in the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
BSc or equivalent in nursing
Eligible for DHA licensing
Minimum Work Experience
Total 2 years in an acute care facility with bed capacity of more than 100 beds
