Responsibilities:

Planning, Preparation, Teaching, and Lesson Management

Creating a climate conducive to outstanding learning and teaching.
Planning collaboratively with grade team colleagues within the school’s framework.
Identifying clear teaching objectives and success criteria and specifying how they will be taught and assessed.
Setting tasks that challenge students and ensure high levels of interest.
Setting appropriate and demanding expectations.
Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment.
Identifying and making appropriate provision for SEN and gifted and talented students.
Providing clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
Making effective use of assessment and ensuring coverage of programs of study.
Using performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated learning matched to need.
Safeguarding students’ health and safety on school premises and during authorized school activities elsewhere.
Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and encouraging good practice regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
Using a variety of teaching methods to:
-Match approach to content, structure information, present key ideas, and use appropriate vocabulary.
-Use effective questioning and listen carefully to students.
-Select appropriate learning resources and ICT effectively.
Ensuring students acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills, and understanding appropriate to the subject taught.
Evaluating own teaching critically to improve effectiveness.
Ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting

Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching.
Mark and monitor students' work and set targets for progress.
Use performance data to inform planning and ensure the teaching and learning continue to add value.
Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed.
Monitor strengths and areas for development, inform planning, and recognize the level at which the student is achieving.
Undertake assessment of students as requested in line with school procedures.
Prepare and present informative reports to parents and other professionals as requested.

Curriculum Development

Take part in the review and development of action plans which identify clear targets and success criteria.
Contribute to the whole school's planning activities.
Contribute to the review and development of the curriculum and assessment arrangements.

Teaching and Learning

Clear understanding of the SAIS Curriculum.
Organizing classroom provision and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
Planning, preparing, and presenting sessions that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.
Observing and assessing children in line with school assessments.
Being reflective of classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning, and curriculum to reflect this.
Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, if required.

Assessment and Data

Taking responsibility for the progress of a class.
Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of student development.
Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision, and intervention.
Providing feedback to parents and carers on a student’s progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Provide balanced, constructive, tempered feedback to the administration and staff committees to develop and support the quality of teaching and learning at SAIS.

Behaviour Management and Duties

Follow the school’s behaviour policy.
Manage classes effectively, using approaches appropriate to students’ needs to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary, within the school’s behavioural policy.
Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour expected of pupils.
Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence among all learners.
Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s policy.
Accept, respect, and abide by SAIS Teachers’ Code of Ethics.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years Teaching experience
Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
