Financial Accountant Required in Dubai

The role reports to the Plant Finance Manager and has a key role in both delivering technical accounting expertise and driving controls compliance in Plant. Works closely with the Plant Accounting Services team as a customer of the Trial Balance data to ensure its accuracy and completeness; and with Sector Controlling team to ensure the appropriate control environment is in place on site. Owns all site statutory and legal financial reporting.

Your responsibilities:
Responsible for delivery of P&L and Balance sheet accounts for legal entity external reporting purposes including the preparation of the FA packs and the preparation & sign-off of legal entity statutory accounts.
Liaise closely with Plant Management Accountants to ensure reconciliation of FA packs to MOR.
Deliver monthly P&L and BS review in order to ensure that all general ledger accounts are recorded accurately and according to accounting policies by the Accounting Services Team. Work closely with the Accounting Services Manager to ensure corrective actions for identified unreconciled items are undertaken.
Own the bi-annual review for the Filings Assurance process.
Responsible for review and sign off on Plant Tax reporting and Tax returns prepared by Accounting services team.
Ensure delivery of an efficient external close and audit process and compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
Prepare ad hoc reports as requested for external auditors and third parties and be a single point of contact for audit queries.
Follow changes in IFRS and apply accordingly to internal reporting aligned with Sector Controlling and Group guidance.
Define and maintain local plant accounting policies and procedures, with input from Sector Controlling and support from Accounting Services team.
Act as first point of contact for JM Sector Finance team on Plant Tax, Treasury and Accounting matters liaising closely with Geographic Financial Controllers to ensure sector wide advise is received on complex technical accounting matters.
Design and implement Plant financial controls in conjunction with Sector Controlling and work closely with the Accounting Services Manager and Sector Controlling team to ensure adherence to policies and the effective operation of financial controls.
Complete the site ICFR (Internal Control over Financial Reporting) framework controls review in JMProtect and identify gaps in current controls.
Lead the implementation of JMProtect on a local site level.
Coordinates the compliance with the Global Controls Framework at the site level.
Advise the Plant Accounting Services team e.g. Accounting Services Manager and GL Accountant on controls requirements.
Drive compliance with all relevant anti-bribery & corruption, competition law, anti-money laundering, import/export and other relevant legislation.
Lead Plant ad hoc projects (including Brexit where appropriate) to improve Financial Accounting and control & compliance environments in both Plant initiated and Sector initiated projects.
Provide organisational leadership and cross-business collaboration to build up both an efficient performance-oriented culture as well as an efficient process-oriented culture.

Requirements for the role:
University degree qualification - essential.
Professional accounting qualification, e.g. ACA, CIMA or equivalent - desirable.
Significant and substantial experience embedding compliance to accounting policies and controls in a global organisation.
Significant and substantial experience within Finance function preferably in the manufacturing environment. Other industries considered.
Experience of chemicals / automotive industry would be ideal.
Ability to work collaboratively and provide appropriate challenge and insight, often under time pressure.
Deep proficiency in IFRS preferred
Experience of leading on controls, compliance, risk management.
Experience of working collaboratively across functions to achieve shared organizational goals.
Previous involvement in the introduction of new systems.
