Coordinating Nurse Required in Dubai

International SOS are currently recruiting for a Coordinating Nurse for our Dubai Assistance Center.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the provision of clear direction in the delivery of professional and effective medical assistance services for clients of International SOS to the highest standards of excellence.

The coordinating nurse is required to perform a robust telephonic medical assessment of patients globally through the collection of medical, logistical and collateral histories pertaining to the medical event / incident. This medical assessment is used to provide tailored and relevant medical advice, referrals and complex medical case management which can also result in medical transportation using evidence-based medicine.

The Coordinating Nurse works collaboratively with the International SOS team of Doctors, Nurses, logistical experts through our 26 Assistance Centers, 65 international medical clinics and verified global health care network of 90, 000 providers.

The core responsibilities of the Coordinating Nurse are as follows:

Pre-Trip Travel Advice:

· Keep up to date with rapidly changing health trends, endemic health risks, pandemics and their impact on global health infrastructure.

· Become familiar and highly competent in navigating internal and external public health resources to provide the most tailored advice for clients pre, during and post travel.

· Conduct tailored travel risk assessments and provide advice regarding recommended travel vaccinations and pre trip preparedness for both individual travelers and clients.

· Perform a health needs assessment for clients to determine the availability of the required health resources in order to determine their suitability for deployment.

· Work closely with the International SOS Medical Information & Analysis team and Security experts to provide tailored solutions.

Medical Assessment & Advice

· To perform a telephonic triage of clients based in international settings with careful consideration of their past medical history, endemic health risks and presenting circumstances.

· Conduct a critical analysis of the client’s requests for assistance to ensure their individual health needs are met and actively identifying opportunities to provide a holistic value-added service

· Provide evidence based medical direction for the management of their presenting condition.

Global Assistance Networks (GAN) and Referrals:

· To source and/or organize the medical referral and/or admission of members to doctors, allied health professionals and medical facilities using the International SOS’s global quality assured assistance network.

· To take responsibility for identifying the most suitable medical referral for the client’s medical needs in order to ensure that they are referred to a provider with the required specialties and the highest standard of care available in the region.

· Liaise with medical providers to facilitate safe and appropriate care for clients.

· Conduct intermittent site surveys (review of medical facilities) to add to our network of medical providers as appropriate.

· Collation of new information on medical providers and facilities encountered and transfer of this information to the Global Assistance Network (GAN) department with medical comment for further investigation.

Medical Case Management:

· Monitor and prioritize caseloads throughout the day to ensure appropriate case direction and handling, clinical safety, medical appropriateness and any client specific considerations.

· To be responsible for the effective and efficient medical management of cases, meeting contractual deliverables and adhering to internal policies and procedures.

· To liaise and collaborate with medical and operational staff to facilitate the efficient running of medical assistance cases.

· To speak with international medical professionals and/or obtain medical reports for members who are treated or hospitalized.

· Direct the medical frequency / intensity of medical contacts with treating Doctors & Nurses, clients and their family members as appropriate.

· Review of the medical treatment received or recommended to clients to ensure it is medically appropriate based on the clinical condition, evidenced based guidelines and geographical location.

· To develop subject matter expertise in the healthcare capabilities across the Middle East, Russia and CIS regions as well as other international locations.

Medical Transportation:

· Responsible for the collation and analysis of medical information in order to formulate fitness to travel recommendations i.e. air-ambulance / commercial carrier / seated / stretcher / escort type / medical equipment etc.

· Work closely with the operations team to ensure all necessary medical and logistical arrangements for the safe medical transportation of clients is carried out.

· Liaise with medical departments of commercial airlines or air ambulance providers for passenger medical clearance.

· To be familiar with the medical equipment room and associated processes required for the preparation of medically escorted missions.

· To act as a medical escort for commercial transportation of our clients when required (non-mandatory).

· Liaise with medical facilities to coordinate the safe preparation of clients for discharge and medical transportation. To also coordinate receiving care for clients upon arrival to destination.

· Consistently maintain the International SOS Medical Transportation Standards (MTS) in line with global audit requirements which are in place to ensure the safe and consistent medical transportation of clients.

General:

· Promote and reinforce the need for evidence-based medical advice and decision making with clear documentation of the information and source.

· Responsible for ensuring that there is an appropriate medical handover of cases at the beginning/end of each shift.

· Responsible for preparing client specific reporting to reflect active case management and International SOS recommendations.

· Undertake responsibility for medical information released from the Assistance Centre to ensure consent and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with GDPR.

· Maintain accurate and confidential client case files in accordance with International SOS policies and procedures and Nursing regulatory requirements for documentation as per registration.

· Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all clients and proactively identify the need for service recovery with escalation to senior management in a timebound manner.

· Focus on quality of service, ensuring that the highest possible levels are achieved for the client.

· To be accessible and responsive to client’s questions and requests for information.

· To thrive in a collaborative, dynamic and fast paced environment with a team of medical, logistical and security experts

Promotion of International SOS Services:

· Ensure a high level of professionalism at all times when dealing with clients.

· To positively promote international SOS to other organizations and clients.

· To attend internal and external meetings where appropriate and as requested.

· Assist with International SOS recruitment and branding events to identify suitable potential staff and promote the International SOS brand for recruitment and client facing events.

Miscellaneous:

· To be present in the Dubai Assistance Centre during scheduled shift hours and participate in at least one daily transmission.

· Work flexible hours as appropriate to the needs of the post.

· To develop progressive expertise to support and train your medical colleagues as a coach and mentor.

· To recognize limitations and areas for self-development through reflection. To be responsible for all actions and decisions made, knowing when to defer and escalate to senior members of the medical team.

· To take an active role in your own continuous professional development throughout your career in keeping with nursing regulatory guidelines.

· To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.

· Work with your line manager to achieve objectives in order to progress within the Remuneration and Progression Plan (RAPP) scheme for Coordinating Nurses.

Required Work Experience

· High level of consolidated experience in acute care

· Previous medical assistance experience desirable, not essential

· Previous public health and/or travel health experience desirable, not essential

Required Qualifications

· Registered General Nurse (must have valid registration)

· Public Health and/or Travel Health Degree desirable, not essential

Required Languages

· Excellent written and oral English Language
