Job Overview

The Bartender will follow all standards, policies and procedures relating to food and beverage service as laid out by the Bar Manager with a strong emphasis on guest satisfaction. The goal for all our staff is to ensure that all guests enjoy their visit to the venue while optimizing profits, and the Bartender will lead by example in this pursuit.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare beverages, accurately to recipe specs, and mix and match ingredients in innovative ways when necessary.
Greet in a timely fashion; interact with customers, always exuding warmth and friendliness.
Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, note any daily menu features.
Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and other restaurant functions and services; explain/romance the menu concept and style when necessary.
Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations; be familiar and knowledgeable with all food and beverage items.
Be responsive and helpful about off-menu items such as classic cocktails and expand personal knowledge in this area as much as possible.
Introduce each dish presented to diners with high degree of detail of the main components.
Excellent product knowledge and upsell where possible.
Ring in orders accurately, adding details where needed.
Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience.
Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age if needed.
Obtaining revenues, issuing accurate receipts, accepting payments, returning change promptly
Cooperate closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure a prompt service is always given.

Role Specifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required
A Degree/ Diploma in Hospitality or equivalent considered an asset

Technical Competencies

Pouring and serving beverage
Checking the identification of customer to ensure that they are of legal drinking age
Maintaining cleanliness records
Monitoring the level of intoxication of customers
Stocking and maintaining liquor and bar supplies
Knowledge of beverage recipes and making them to order
Hands on experience with POS Systems
Ensuring Customer Satisfaction

Experience

Minimum: 3 years’ work experience in similar role
