Job Description: Apheresis Nurse - Nanogene Lab
Position Overview: Nanogene Lab is a dynamic startup laboratory located in the heart of Dubai, specializing in providing mobile apheresis services to neighboring hospitals. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Apheresis Nurse to join our team. This position requires a compassionate nurse with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience, preferably with previous ICU or emergency room experience, to ensure exceptional patient care in critical situations.
Responsibilities:
Apheresis Procedure Performance:
Conduct apheresis procedures on patients following established protocols, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
Assist our Medical Director in assessing patient eligibility for apheresis procedures, including reviewing medical history, conducting physical assessments, and evaluating laboratory results.
Carefully monitor patients during procedures, promptly recognizing and responding to any adverse reactions.
Maintain accurate documentation of the procedure, patient responses, and any complications or adverse events in the nurse worksheet.
Administer prescribed medications and fluids during apheresis procedures.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
Collaborate with the medical team to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) specific to apheresis procedures at Nanogene Lab.
Ensure strict adherence to established protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Regularly review and update SOPs to incorporate best practices and reflect the latest evidence-based approaches.
Collaboration and Communication:
Foster close collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff, to ensure effective communication and coordination of apheresis procedures.
Provide education and training to colleagues regarding apheresis procedures, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
Serve as a resource person, offering support and guidance to colleagues on apheresis-related inquiries or concerns.
Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings, contributing to discussions on patient care, treatment plans, and quality improvement initiatives.
Patient Follow-Up and Education:
Monitor and assess patients after apheresis procedures, vigilantly observing for any potential complications or adverse reactions.
Provide comprehensive post-procedure care and instructions to patients, including wound care, activity restrictions, and medication management.
Accurately document patient responses, any adverse events, and follow-up recommendations in patient records.
Educate patients and their families on the apheresis procedure, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Eligibility or valid Dubai nursing license and current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of nursing experience, preferably with a focus on critical care such as ICU or emergency room experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in performing apheresis procedures.
Strong understanding of infection control practices and patient safety guidelines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and patient education.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage documentation and follow-up responsibilities.
